Collection: Castello Tricerchi

The Castello Tricerchi winery is located on the northern side of Montalcino. It stretches over 400 hectares, 13 of which are covered with Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino vineyards. At the center of the property stands the castle, built in the 13th century by the Altesi family. In 1441 it was handed over to the Tricerchi family, and is today a vineyard and home to their direct descendants, the Squarcia family. The cellar is located where the Tricerchi family thought it was the best place to produce wine in the fifteenth century, namely in the dungeon. In the dungeon, the temperature is almost constant all year round thanks to the very thick walls and the tunnels that run above and below. In part of the structure, it is still possible to see old features, including the granary that survived the last restoration. Everything in this part of the castle is as it was 600 years ago, and the traditional methods have been preserved, even though technology has made its inevitable inroads into the old castle.

Today, the wines are produced by Tommaso Squarcia, who is the 17th generation at the castle. His passion and uncompromising approach to the production of quality wines convinced us that this is a producer we want to bet on in the future.

The hillside behind the castle is covered in vineyards that stretch to the lake below, which in ancient times was used to supply water for the household as well as for irrigation. The vineyards are divided into seven individual fields, each cultivated in the same way. The vineyards are called "Sløret", "Slottet", "Sant' Anna", "Søen", "Cypresserne" and "The new vineyard".

The best grapes are handpicked for the Brunello from the best single fields "Slottet" and "Sant Anna".
