Tolaini Picconero Toscana IGT 2011
Tolaini Picconero Toscana IGT 2011
Pier Luigi Tolaini's aim to produce a great wine without compromise - and thus only with the estate's best grapes - has become the fantastic super-Tuscan Picconero.
When the grapes are harvested, they go through three selection processes before the grapes are transferred to the French oak fermentation tanks. The temperature is controlled while the skins are kept in contact with the wine for 30 days. The wine is then aged in the cellar for 18 months in new barriques. The wine is bottled and rests for another 12 months in the bottle before release.
The extreme attention to detail starts in the vineyard with the green harvests raising the quality of the fruit on the vine, giving life to a great wine with complexity, sensuality and elegance and the promise of a long life.
This super Tuscan is a superstar! Full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, but wonderfully balanced with intense flavors of cherries, plums and wild berries and nuances of spices and currants. A long tasty aftertaste with juicy fruit and mouth-watering tannins is experienced for several minutes afterwards.
