Powerful and fruity wine. 18 months in Slavonian casks of 1,200 and 2,500 litres. Good for strong and spicy food, but also as a meditation wine.
The wine is technically a Montefalco Rosso Riserva, but this term makes no sense to Giampaolo Tabarrini.
Elegance, power, fruit and great freshness.
60% sangiovese, 15% sagrantino and 25% barbera.
Only original grapes from the area. Giampaolo has long removed all international grapes from his fields out of respect for the area and its history.

The 2017 Montefalco Rosso Boccatone keeps med coming back to the glass to take in its darkly floral mix of red currant, dried roses and hints of fresh rosemary. Its liky, yet also juicy to the core, balancing ripe red fruits with exotic inner spices against vibrant acidity. It lingers long with a staining of berry concentration but is only lightly structured, makin for highly pleasurable finale. The blend of 60% sangiovese, 25% barbera and 15% Sagrantino really works wonders here.
