Massolino Barolo DOCG 2020
Massolino Barolo DOCG 2020
The grapes for Massolino's Barolo Classico come from several different small parcels that Massolino owns in Serralunga d'Alba.
The wine is the most important wine for Massolino and it shows everything that Massolino stands for.
It is the old classic way of producing Barolo, where you get the different characteristics together in one wine. The subsoil is diverse, but the dominant type is limestone
After harvest and spontaneous fermentation in open Slavonian oak barrels (tini), the wine has matured for 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels in sizes from 50 hl and upwards.
The wine has a classic light color, and the nose is met by sweet cherries, mint, tobacco, spices, licorice and rose petals, which open effortlessly in the glass.
It is full-bodied, classic and well-structured, making it an ideal candidate for aging.
It represents the characteristic wine tradition of the area with great skill.
To achieve the full flavor experience, it is recommended to decant the wine and serve it at temperatures between 18-20°C.
The wine really comes into its own when enjoyed with red meat, especially game, as well as dishes enriched with truffle. It also harmonizes excellently with fresh pasta with meat sauce or risotto.
In addition, it nicely complements the taste of medium-ripened cow's milk and goat's milk cheese.
It can be enjoyed young or old, but it definitely wins with ageing, and waiting 15 years won't be a problem. It will still be fresh.
The wine is produced according to organic principles.
The first vintage of the wine was 1947.
