Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Tenuta Nuova DOCG 2018
Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Tenuta Nuova DOCG 2018
Here is the wine that is at the top every year when various reviewers have to describe Brunello di Montalcino. A single-field wine that Giacomo Neri created when, many years ago, he bought the Cetine field in S. Angelo in Colle, where no one had ever tried wine before. Giacomo believed in this huge rocky place with a completely unique microclimate and called the wine Tenuta Nuova, NEW VINEYARD . The field is located at an altitude of 275-320 meters.
After harvesting in mid/late September, the optically sorted grapes have fermented in upright vats under temperature control for 24 days.
The wine has subsequently matured for 30 months in used tonneaux (500-800 litres) followed by 18 months of bottle storage.
In the nose you are met by ripe red berries and balsamic notes. In the mouth, the wine is very complex. The wine is rich and elegant with a fantastic balance, but also possesses a certain power.
2018 was a year of very cold winter followed by a rainy spring. The summer was without extreme heat and ripening of the grapes took place very slowly and calmly. So all in all a year that is expected to produce elegant and very durable wines.
