Collection: Riecine

Riecine is beautifully situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, near Gaiole in Chianti.

The winery has roots that can be traced back to the 12th century, but it was in 1971 that John Dunkley, a passionate Englishman, gave Riecine its modern form. John and his wife Palmina's philosophy was to produce wines that reflected the authentic terroir and pure essence of the Sangiovese grape.

Lana Frank took over the winery in 2011, with a single-minded focus on combining traditional winemaking with modern innovation. Lana has invested in sustainable methods and organic farming to ensure that the wines not only taste great, but are also produced with respect for nature. She has expanded the winery considerably, both by purchasing more fields and with a thorough update and expansion of the cellar, including several large cement tanks, which are now used in the vinification of almost all the wines from Riecine.

The winery is certified organic.

Alessandro Campatelli joined Riecine as a young and passionate director and winemaker in 2015. He previously worked at Tenuta di Trinoro and Passopisciaro in Italy and at Kendall-Jackson Monterey, California.

The experienced and highly recognized consultant Carlo Ferrini has been there as a skilled and faithful "coach" for Alessandro.

Alessandro's skill and dedication are beautifully expressed at Riecine, where he combines tradition and innovation in every single bottle of wine.

Riecine is known for its meticulous approach to wine production. The grapes are handpicked and treated with the utmost respect to preserve their natural character. The fermentation takes place individually to ensure that each wine gets its unique character and quality.

The house's Chianti Classico wines, all of which are pure sangiovese, present Chianti at its best with beautiful elegance and enormous freshness. These are high-class wines with the finest tannins and an insanely harmonious acidity. It is one of the best Chianti Classico houses we have tasted!
