Collection: Carlo Giacosa
The family-owned winery Carlo Giacosa is located in the heart of Barbaresco, Piedmont. For four generations, the Giacosa family has dedicated their lives to the art of growing wine and conveying the area's unique terroir through their exceptional wines.
Carlo Giacosa took over the family estate from his father and continued the tradition of growing the Nebbiolo grape on the hilly slopes surrounding the village of Barbaresco. His passion and commitment to winemaking was passed on to his daughter, Maria Grazia, and his grandson, Luca, who today run the winery with the same dedication and respect for tradition.
Dante Scaglione is a consultant at the winery. He is particularly known for his work with the legendary Bruno Giacosa and has left his mark on some of the most iconic wines from the 90s onwards.
The Giacosa family is particularly recognized for their Barbaresco wines, which are a true expression of the potential of the Nebbiolo grape in this area. The vineyard's fields include some of the most famous vineyards in Barbaresco, including Asili and Ovello—two of the most prestigious "cru" vineyards in the region. These fields are highly regarded for their ability to produce Nebbiolo grapes of exceptional quality, which are the foundation of the area's famous wines.
Known for their elegance, complexity and aging potential, the wines from Asili and Ovello offer aromatic profiles with notes of red fruit, rose petals, spices and a subtle earthy minerality. The tannins are well integrated and contribute to a wonderful structure.
In addition to Barbaresco, Carlo Giacosa also produces other quality wines such as Pinot Nero, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba. Each wine reflects the family's philosophy of letting the terroir speak for itself and creating wines with authenticity and character.
Sustainability is a central value for the family. They practice environmentally friendly farming methods and strive to minimize their impact on nature. This involves the use of natural fertilisers, the limitation of chemical pesticides and respect for biodiversity in the vineyards.
